Imagine receiving a colorful doodled Amazon box instead of a boring brown box for your next package…..
Now hold on to that thought for a bit.
Today’s post is going to be the first part of a 3 part transformation series. Sometimes things get boring and it needs to be colored up and fixed a little to give it that brand new look (just like your new haircut)!
We receive packages all the time. What do you do with the box – throw it away? – Booooo…. There are a lot of options on what you can do with it, but I came across this super cool idea on Alisa Burke’s blog. She recommended using a cardboard box as a regular canvas. WOAH! Mind blown.
Now I’ve painted on a whole bunch of surfaces in my life. And I mean a WHOLE bunch! But I don’t think I’d ever painted on a cardboard box. So I instantly pulled out an old Amazon box and went to town with it. I’m going to let the pictures do most of the talking today.
But I think I transformed this Amazon box into a happy colorful piece. Now all I have to do is find some goodies and a sender for this precious box (giggles).
I used acrylic paints, sharpies, pitt pens, paint pens and gello pens for this project. These are extremely easy to find supplies and you might even have most of them at home.
I love squirting paint out onto my surface. It’s a weird happy feeling. (Insert happy face here.)
These colors remind me of the beach!
I randomly created circles with different paints.
Layering is key. I have 2 layers on most spots on the box, if not more. I used a palette knife at some spots as well to give it the cool uneven effect.
The doodling began after that. It’s so relaxing to sit and add details. I like blocking out the big parts first before adding the details in.
If you couldn’t tell by now, I love flowers and doodling!
And side 1 done!
And then I painted the other side.
I left some space in the middle for the address label.
Next time you receive all those packages don’t throw the boxes away. Reuse them. In fact don’t just reuse them. Give them a facelift before using them again!
Now I would love to see your transformation project. Use #OADLTransformation to share your work. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
Can’t wait to see your creations!
