Do you check your super smart phones every few minutes? Don’t be shy, tell me the truth. Well, even if it’s not every few minutes I’m sure it’s at least once an hour for most people. Yea, that includes me too! Waon waon (insert upside down smiley).
In today’s fast paced world it’s crazy how quickly and easily we can get distracted with a ping notification or a phone vibration. Even when my phone is not making these sounds I sometimes go and look at it to ensure that it’s still alive! In these current state of affairs we need something that will hold our attention and help us focus more on the tasks that matter.
No prizes for guessing here, but my go-to for focus is obviously arts and crafts. It is this one time when no amount of distraction can bother me. The skies can part, the seas can rise but when I’m at my art desk it’s the most serene, peaceful time. I lose track of time and it feels like time stands still.
Anyways sometimes we don’t have a lot of time to relax and align our chi. So we need a quick fix, and art (and ice-cream) is the perfect quick fix solution for most problems in life (without bad side effects)! I created this mini tote fabric painting. It was a very small project and before I knew, I was done. I felt alive and amazing. Now this beauty is on it’s way to a friend (insert huge smile). Double win!
You don’t need a lot for this project. All you need are some fabric paints and a piece of fabric to paint on. I used some stamps to make it more fun, but that is not an essential ingredient here.
I used the stamp to get some fun patterns in.
Art is messy. Embrace the mess. Let go of your troubles…..
I obviously had to doodle over the stamp patterns!
I felt so refreshed when I was done!
Anywho, now I would like to know from you – What do you do to escape the craziness and distractions of modern-day society? What form of art do you use as a quick fix? Let me know in the comments below.
