Ya, ya I know, mother’s day just went by. So? Does that mean we cannot celebrate it again! We don’t need a special day to celebrate moms. Everyday is Mother’s Day if you ask me. And especially if you have a mum like mine who is the BEST-EST cook in the universe! (Insert biggest possible smile.)
My mum will be visiting me soon so I’m planning on giving her a little surprise. Yay! And nothing makes mum happier than a hand-made kid gift from her kid. Do you remember the look on your mom’s face when you took out the time and actually made something for her using your own little hands. Yes, that’s the look I’m talking about – that look is priceless! In this modern age it’s easy to just buy her something with a few clicks, but no amount of money or quick clicks can replace the warmth and love of a hand-crafted beauty.
Since I’ve been into fabrics lately (along with having bought a gazillion supplies for it) I’m going to proceed with that theme. I decided to make mom her very own colorful apron (smiles ear to ear).
Yes, yes, this is very easy to make. All you need is a little bit of time and lots of imagination!
Here are the ingredients to create this magic:
- ‘Fabric Creations’ paint (I got mine at Michaels.)
- Brushes
- An apron (or any other fabric that you want to use. Got this at Michaels again.)
- Lot’s of imagination
This gift is also perfect for anybody that loves to cook!
Most fabric paints recommend that the fabric be washed before painting on it. Who follows instructions anyways (insert loud laughter).
I wasn’t sure where I was going with this honestly. I just wanted to have fun!
I think at this point I had a faint idea about the direction I wanted to proceed in.
I LOVE flowers, I know (insert smile)!
I wanted to personalize this just for my mum, so I added the quote.
And before I knew it, I was all done! Yep, that is me posing. But I can’t wait to give it to mum!
Since I haven’t pre-washed the fabric I do not know the effects of putting this in the washing machine (insert giggle here). But I think it’ll be ok!
Your turn now. In the comments below tell me in details what did you create and give your mum this season? And what was her reaction?
Until next time,
