Isn’t life so much better with color in it?
Imagine what it would be like if there were only 2 colors black and white – and everything was just a shade of gray. That would be oh so bo-ring-gggg. Today’s post is happy and colorful just like spring flowers.
If you have been following what I’ve been working on lately you’d know that I’ve been super obsessed with fabric. So I decided to make fabric the central theme for this artwork. And the best part is that most people have scrap pieces of fabric at home – which means, you can completely make this out of things that you would have otherwise thrown away.
Yayyy! Recycle that old shirt or skirt that you’ve been meaning to do for so long. Have some leftovers from your sewing project, perfect. Use it!
I did buy a few colorful pieces of cloth only because I had absolutely zero scrap fabric at home! But the rest of the ingredients were easy.
Some scrap pieces of cloth followed by Collage Pauge decoupage, gesso, acylics, ink, Faber-Castell pitt pens, a tiny bit of imagination and a lot of time later I had created a bright beautiful piece ready to be shown off. I was super happy with how it turned out.
Yes, decoupage action begins.
Collage Pauge decoupage is the ultimate life solution to glue anything crafty (unless it needs to hold up weight). It’s the crafter’s pixie dust. Every crafter must have a bottle of this sitting in their craft stack!
Now it’s time to bring in the acrylics, ink and gesso.
Embrace all the mess of the process and simply go with the flow.
I have a thing for pens and creating outlines. I think these Faber Castell pens made the flowers pop even more.
Got the roller in too – why not. More the merrier!
If I’d tricked you till now into thinking it was a single piece of canvas – then I gotcha! (Insert silly laughter.)
And I’d been meaning to create one of these multi-canvas art for a long time now.
And then the final layer of decoupage for good luck. Just kidding – It helps with the uniformity.
Add a clear coat of varnish when you are all done.
And, to add to the dash of colors this project also fits with the theme of earth-day, because you don’t need to throw away your scraps and you can simply recycle them. Tadaaaa…..

Dash of colors...
Feel free to gift two of these canvases to your bff’s. It’s as if you guys would be connected by a common piece of fabric! (Insert chuckle here.)
