“Mixed Media” is like a mystery novel. You kinda know what it’s going to look like but you cannot be sure till the end. Besides it’s sooooo forgiving too. If you mess up, get some gesso and cover ‘er up! Nobody will find out – like ever!
I’m super excited about today’s post. This one took me foreverrrrrrrr to create!!! But I think it will be totally worth it. I got a gazillion pictures of it so that you didn’t even miss a teeny-meeny brush stroke.
Anyways, I also got into a silly mood while creating this. So we’re going to play a totally rid-di-culous fun game – The MMA game. Nope, not mixed martial arts! It’s Mixed Media Art! (grins ear to ear). Bring a piece of paper and a pen. You’ll need it for this game.
Ohk, here’s how it’s going to work – Below are a bunch of the gazillion pictures that I took which will progressively show you how this mixed media artwork was created. Some pictures will be accompanied by a question and I want you to write down your answer on a piece of paper. At the end I’ll tell you what do do with the answers. For right now simply write the question number followed by it’s answer.
Nah, Do not cheat or scroll to the bottom yet. It’ll ruin the game.
Ok ready?

It was the summer of 69. I was driving along in my convertible with the top rolled down when I saw some [insert answer 1] in a distance and felt so [insert answer 2] about it. The [insert answer 3] in the [insert answer 1] made it look like something that I’d never seen before. But omg for the [insert answer 4] in it!!! I felt completely [insert answer 5] and started to wonder where I could buy [insert answer 6]. I also started thinking that it would be epic to add [insert answer 7] to the [insert answer 6] and have [insert answer 8] people look at it and provide me their thoughts… Then I had a lightbulb moment! I pulled over and took out my [insert answer 9] to make some notes about it. After I had made some good notes I jumped back in and started driving again – had to head to the store to get some [insert answer 10]. The breeze felt great against my skin and I was very excited and [insert answer 5] because very very soon I was going to embark on a new adventure and begin learning all about [insert answer 11].
Here’s my silly story after I answered the questions and made the replacements above. It makes no sense at all but it’s hilarious to read it out loud!
It was the summer of 69. I was driving along in my convertible with the top rolled down when I saw some FABER CASTELL PITT PEN in a distance and felt so WARM, HAPPY AND BLOBBY about it. The ELECTRIC BLUE in the FABER CASTELL PITT PEN made it look like something that I’d never seen before. But omg for the OCHRE in it!!! I felt completely FESTIVE and started to wonder where I could buy THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING. I also started thinking that it would be epic to add LEAVES to THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING and have 8 people look at it and provide me their thoughts…Then I had a lightbulb moment! I pulled over and took out my FRAME to make some notes about it. After I had made some good notes I jumped back in and started driving again – had to head to the store to get some NOTHING. The breeze felt great against my skin and I was very excited and FESTIVE because very very soon I was going to embark on a new adventure and begin learning all about PATTERN DESIGN.
My story makes no sense, right! Now I would absolutely LOVE to hear your story! Add it to the comments below. And don’t forget to read your story out loud. It sounds extra SILLY and funny when you read it aloud.
Hope you enjoyed the game! Until next time,
